Have a look at your inittab file it should go like this:Ĭ1:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty1 linuxĬ2:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty2 linuxĬ3:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tt圓 linuxĬ4:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty4 linuxĬ5:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty5 linuxĬ6:12345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty6 linuxĬ2:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty2 linuxĬ3:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tt圓 linuxĬ4:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty4 linuxĬ5:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty5 linuxĬ6:2345:respawn:/sbin/agetty 38400 tty6 linuxĬheck man nf, there is an option that disables access to terminals using ctrl-alt-f1, sometimes it is enabled by default even if it's not in nf. Last edited by satanskin on Tue 10:34 pm edited 1 time in total Anyone else have any clue how this could be fixed or what's causing it?ĮDIT: Now that I think about it, I believe it may have started around the time I was trying to follow the gentoo guide on switching over to use UTF-8. I tried booting up to CLI instead of X and it didn't work from there either. The strange thing though, is that I can't even do it from a virtual terminal either. Even after just updating Xorg last night. However, it has been at least a month or two and it still has not fixed itself. I don't remember what, if anything, i had changed/updated and was just sort of hoping it would fix itself again after another update. I used to be able to do this for the longest time and a while back it stopped working. Now for the issue: I can no longer ctrl+alt+f1 (or 2, 3, 4, etc) into a new terminal (virtual terminal i think is what they're called). Some background info first: Running Gentoo-64, Xorg-x11-6.9_pre20051210, Fluxbox, etc. Ok, so i'm not sure where exactly this should have gone, but I'm using gentoo-64 so here it goes.
